Home Brew Beer Equipment

Basic home brew equipment is not expensive and one of the most popular ways of purchasing everything the new enthusiast needs is the 'starter kit' which generally contains the following items

  • Fermentation Bin / Container - For the initial brewing process. Effectively a large straight sided plastic bucket with a lid.
  • Pressure Barrel - Finalises the fermentation process and then serves as the container for dispensing through a tap on the side.
  • Plastic Spoon - Long shaft spoon for mixing the ingredients. Plastic for ease of sterilisatrion.
  • Syphon Tube - For the transfer of beer from the Fermentation Bin to the Barrel
  • Bubbler Airlock - Filled with water, it is a one way airlock that allows gas to escape but prevents contamination of the brew
  • Hydrometer - Allows you to check the specific alcohol content at given times. Lets you know when your home brew is ready.
  • Thermometer - For monitoring and maintaining the correct temperature for your home brew
  • Steriliser - For cleaning home brew equipment and avoiding contamination
